Samuel Mather

Samuel was born in April 1861 in Little Bolton and his baptism took place on April 28th, 1861 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹

Samuel's father was Ralph Mather and his mother was Sarah Makin. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Mather and Ellen Rigby. He had six sisters named Ellen, Hannah, Alice, Hannah, Sarah and Clara. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Thomas, William, Elizabeth, Alice, Christianna, Ellen and John. He died at the age of 1 on January 10th, 1863 in Little Bolton. He was buried in January 1863 at Tonge-with-Haulgh Cemetery.²¹
