Alice was born in December 1847 in Bolton and her baptism took place on February 11th, 1849 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1 2  Alice's father was Ralph Mather and her mother was Rosannah Peak.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Mather and Ellen Rigby. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, William, Christianna and Ellen.  She was the second oldest of the five children. She had a half-brother and six half-sisters, named Samuel, Ellen, Hannah, Alice, Hannah, Sarah and Clara.  She died at the age of 2 in January 1850 in Bolton.  Her burial was on January 6th, 1850 in Bolton.3 4
