Rachel Mather

Rachel was born in December 1855 in Sharples and her baptism took place on January 13th, 1856 at St. Paul's (Astley Bridge).¹²

Birth Notes

Rachel's father was James Mather and her mother was Susanna (Susan) Whalley. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named William, James, Giles, Richard, Nathaniel, Fred, Lewis, Hannah, Ellen and Alice. She was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 70 in February 1926 in Manchester.³
