Jane was born on May 22nd, 1842 in Burnley and her baptism took place there on May 22nd, 1842.1  Jane's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Ellen Warburton.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Mather and Ellen Rigby. She had six brothers and six sisters, named James, Thomas, William, (John), George, Walter, Ellen, Mary, Alice, Sarah, Mary and Agnes.  She was the fourth oldest of the thirteen children.  She died at the age of 1 in July 1843 in Burnley.1
