Alexander Mather

Alexander was born in 1813 in Wheelton and his baptism took place on December 26th, 1813 at St. Laurence (Chorley).^1 2

Alexander's father was Ralph Mather and his mother was Ann Clarkson.  His paternal grandparents were James Mather and Esther Mason; his maternal grandparents were Peter Clarkson and Ann Constantine. He had two brothers and six sisters, named James, John, Jane, Mary, Sarah, Betty, Peggy and Ann.  He was the youngest of the nine known children.  He died at the age of 65 in October 1878 in Preston.³
