Elizabeth (Betty) Mather

Elizabeth, known as Betty, was born in 1798 in Withnell.¹

Birth Notes
- There is no Withnell baptism for Betty, daughter of Ralph and Ann.
  
  Aged 30 in 1841 (but single and between Mary and Margaret)
  Aged 53 in 1851, unmarried and with mother Ann

Betty's father was Ralph Mather and her mother was Ann Clarkson. Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Esther Mason; her maternal grandparents were Peter Clarkson and Ann Constantine. She had three brothers and five sisters, named James, John, Alexander, Jane, Mary, Sarah, Peggy and Ann. She was the fifth oldest of the nine known children.

General Notes
- Betty Mather from Withnell was not baptised. It is therefore possinle she is a daughter-in-law.
  
  In 1841, Elizabeth (30) was with her mother Ann at School Lane, Withnell
  
  In 1851, Betty (53) and her mother Ann (77), living in School Lane, Withnell, Brindle with Jane (59), Mary (55), Alexander (35) and probably nieces Lucy (21) and Martha (15), all unmarried and born at Withnell.
