James V was born on April 10th, 1512 in Linlithgow, West-Lothian, Scotland.  James V's father was James IV+ Stewart and his mother was Margaret Tudor.  His paternal grandparents were James III+ Stewart and Margarethe Von+ Oldenburg; his maternal grandparents were Henry VII Tudor and Elizabeth Plantagenet. He had three brothers named James, Arthur and Alexander.  He was the second youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named James+, Margaret, Janet+, Catherine, Margaret and Dorothea.  He died at the age of 30 on December 14th, 1542 in Falkland, Fifeshire, Scotland.  He was buried in January 1543 in Holyrood House, Edinburgh, Mid-Lothian, Scotland.
