Jeremiah Thompson 
Jeremiah was born on April 26th, 1778 in Chatham Co., North Carolina.1 Jeremiah's father was Balaam Thompson and his mother was Olive Melton. His paternal grandparents were William Thompson and Hannah Bell. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named William Pharoah, Balaam, James, Eleanor, Dorcas, Hannah, Rebecca, Charlotte, Mary and Ruth. He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Charles, George, Balaam McSwane, Rebecca and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 71 on December 3rd, 1849 in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisianna.1 General Notes

tax list 1812 the portion of Tangipahoa Parrish where they settled was
p art of Spanish West Florida revolted against Spain, then set up Republic
of W est FL. Jeremiah took part in that rebellion.
On 9-25, 1849 Jeremiah, and Sar ah sold 540 acres to sons Kennon K and
John W. Thompson
Jeremiah, Ruth, Rebe cca, and Dorcas sold land which they had received as
children of Balaam, who had died. He had moved to Louisiana as early as
