Sir Arthur Champernowne 
Sir Arthur was born about 1524 in Dartington, Devon.1 Sir Arthur's father was Sir Philip Champernowne and his mother was Catherine Carew. His paternal grandparents were Sir John Champernowne and Margaret Courtenay; his maternal grandparents were Sir Edmund Carew and Catherine Huddesfield. He had a brother and four sisters, named John, Joan, Katherine, Elizabeth and Frances. He was the youngest of the six children. He died on April 1st, 1578 in Dartington, Devon.
