Elizabeth was born about 1406 in Farleigh Hungerford Castle, Frome, Somerset, England.1   Elizabeth's father was Walter Lord Hungerford and her mother was Catherine Peverell.  Her paternal grandparents were Sir Thomas de Hungerford and Joane Hussey; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Peverell and Margaret De Courtenay. She had three brothers and a sister, named Sir Walter, Edmund, Robert and Margaret.  She was the oldest of the five children.  She died on December 14th, 1476 in Powderham Castle, St Thomas, Devonshire, England.  She was buried in Powderham, Devonshire, England.1 1 


Elizabeth's first family with Sir Philip Courtenay

‌Elizabeth and Sir Philip were married in a religious ceremony about 1425 in Powderham, St Thomas, Devonshire, England.1   They had seven sons and four daughters, named Sir William of Powderham, Sir Philip of Molland, Peter, Sir Walter, Edmond, Humphrey, Sir John, Anne, Elizabeth, Catherine and Phillipa.
