John Champernowne 
John was born about 1518.1 John's father was Sir Philip Champernowne and his mother was Catherine Carew. His paternal grandparents were Sir John Champernowne and Margaret Courtenay; his maternal grandparents were Sir Edmund Carew and Catherine Huddesfield. He had a brother and four sisters, named Sir Arthur, Joan, Katherine, Elizabeth and Frances. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died after 1538 in Of Mudbury, Devonshire, Englandland.1 General Notes
