Sir John Courtenay 
Sir John was born about 1384 in Powderham Castle, St Thomas, Devonshire, England.1 Sir John's father was Philip De Courtenay and his mother was Anne Wake. His paternal grandparents were Hugh Courtenay and Margaret De Bohun; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Wake and Alice Patteshull. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Richard, Sir William, Agnes and Margaret. He was the second youngest of the five children. He died before July 29th, 1406.1 General Notes
