John of Gaunt was born on March 28th, 1340 in St. Bavon's Abbey, Ghent, Flanders, Netherlands.  John of Gaunt's father was Edward III Plantagenet King of England and his mother was Phillipa de Hainault.  His paternal grandparents were Edward II of Caernarvon King of England and Isabella de France; his maternal grandparents were Guillaume III le Bon Ct de Hainault & Holland and Jeanne de Valois. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named Edward the Black Prince, Lionel, Edmund, Thomas, William, Thomas of Woodstock, William, Isabella, Mary, Margaret, Joan (Joanna) and Blanche. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Sir John, Nicholas de Lytleton, Jane and Joan.  He died in Leicester Castle, London, England.


John of Gaunt's first family with Blanche Plantagenet of Lancaster

‌John of Gaunt and Blanche were married in a religious ceremony on May 13th, 1359 in Reading, England.  They had four sons and three daughters, named John, Edward, John, Henry IV Plantagenet, Philippa, Isabel and Elizabeth.


John of Gaunt's second family with Marie de St Hilaire

‌John of Gaunt and Marie were married in a religious ceremony before 1360.  They had a daughter named Blanche.


John of Gaunt's third family with Constanza (Constance) Queen of Castile

‌John of Gaunt and Constanza (Constance) were married in a religious ceremony on September 21st, 1371 in Roquefort, Guienne.  They had a son and a daughter, named John and Katherine de Lancaster.


John of Gaunt's fourth family

‌John of Gaunt were married in a religious ceremony in Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln, England.  He had three biological sons and a biological daughter, named Henry, Thomas de Beaufort, John de Beaufort and Joan de Beaufort.
