Berengaria Alfonsez was born in August 1181 in Segovia, Castile, Spain.  Berengaria Alfonsez's father was Alfonso VIII de Castile King of Castile and her mother was Eleanor Plantagenet.  Her maternal grandparents were Henry II Plantagenet de Anjou King of England and Eleanor de Aquitaine Dss de Aquitaine. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Ferdinand, Enrique I de Castile, Urraca, Blanca and Leonor.  She was the oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 65 on November 8th, 1246 in Las Huelgas, Burgos, Castile, Spain.

‌Berengaria Alfonsez and Alphonso IX the Slobberer de LeUn were married in a religious ceremony in October 1197 in Valladolid, Spain.  They had two sons and three daughters, named St. Ferdinand III, Alfonse de Molina, Berengaria de LeUn, Constanza de Castile and Leonor de Castile.
