Leonor was born in 1202.  Leonor's father was Alfonso VIII de Castile King of Castile and her mother was Eleanor Plantagenet.  Her maternal grandparents were Henry II Plantagenet de Anjou King of England and Eleanor de Aquitaine Dss de Aquitaine. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Ferdinand, Enrique I de Castile, Berengaria Alfonsez, Urraca and Blanca.  She was the second youngest of the six children.  She died at the age of 42 in 1244 in Burgos.

‌Leonor and Jaime I the Conqueror were married in a religious ceremony in Agreda.  They had a son named Alfonso.
