Thomas Benton was born on June 3rd, 1829 in Holmes Co, Ms. Thomas Benton's father was Richard Sparks and his mother was Elizabeth May Cooper. His paternal grandparents were William C Sparks and Mary Polly Fielder; his maternal grandparents were REV WILLIAM COOPER and ELIZABETH SCOTT. He had five brothers and three sisters, named William Fielder Billy, James Hawkins, Stephen Franklin, Andrew Jackson, John Marion, Mary Ann, Elizabeth C and Sarah Jane. He was the second youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 43 on October 27th, 1872 in Bosqueville, Tx. He was buried in Patrick Cem, Patrick, McLennan Co, Tx.General Notes
