His paternal grandparents were Lord James John Of Bonkyl and Egidia De Burgh; his maternal grandparents were King Robert I (The Liberator) De Brus Of Scotland and Matilda De Mar. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named John, Egidia (Jill) and Jean. He died at the age of 74 on April 19th, 1390 in Dundonald Castle,Irvine,Ayrshire,Scotland.
