Walter was born in 1292 in Dundonald Castle,Irvine,Ayrshire,Scotland.1   Walter's father was Lord James John Of Bonkyl and his mother was Egidia De Burgh.  His paternal grandparents were High Steward Alexander Stewart Of Scotland and Jean McRory Of Bute; his maternal grandparents were Earl Walter II De Burgh Of Ulster and Avelina Fitzjohn. He had two half-brothers named Alan and James.  He died at the age of 41 on July 19th, 1333 in Battle Of Halidon Hill,Scotland.1

‌Walter and Marjory were married in a religious ceremony in 1315.  They had a son named Robert II.


Walter's second family with Isabel Graham

‌Walter and Isabel were married in a religious ceremony after 1316 in 2nd wife.3   They had a son and a daughter, named John and Egidia (Jill).


Walter's third family with Alice Erskine

They had a daughter named Jean.
