Eleanor was born about 1215 in Winchester, England.  Eleanor's father was John Lackland and her mother was Lady Isabella Taillefer d'Angoulême.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry II Curtmantle Plantagenet and Duchess of Aquitaine Eläeonore; her maternal grandparents were Aymer Taillefer and Alice de Courtenay. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Henry III, Richard, Joan and Isabella 'Elizabeth'. She had fourteen half-brothers and eight half-sisters, named Osbert Gifford, Oliver FitzRoy, Geofrey FitzRoy, Richard, Henry, John FitzJohn, Eudo, Ivo, Hugh, Henry, Guy, I, Sir William, Aymer, Joanna, Isabel "la Blanche", Joanna, Matilda, Alice, Isabelle, Marguerite and Agatha.  She died on April 13th, 1273 in Montargis Abbey, France.
