William 'The was born on October 14th, 1024 in Falaise Castle, Normandy, France.  William 'The's father was Robert II "the Magnificent" and his mother was Herleva Arlette De Falaise.  His paternal grandparents were II Richard and Juetta (Judith) de Bretagne; his maternal grandparents were Rollo Filbert de Falaise and Doda Duxia. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Ralph, Drogo, Felicia and Adbelahide.  He was the third oldest of the five children. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Robert, Earl of Kent and Bishop of Bayeux, Emma and Muriel.  He died at the age of 62 on September 9th, 1087 in Hermentrube, Near Rouen, France.  He was buried in Caen, Calvados, France.
