Gisela was born in 1070 in Macon, Burgundy, France.  Gisela's father was Guillaume I "The Grand" and her mother was Etiennette Stephanie De Longwy.  Her paternal grandparents were I Renaud and Alice (Adelaide) of Normandy; her maternal grandparents were III Adalbert and Clemence De Foix. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Etienne I, Guillaume II, Eudes, Clemence, Pope Calistus, Archbishop of Besancon, Ermentrude, Bertha, Raimund, Etiennette and Sybille Matilda.  She died after 1133.
