Helen Elen Llywelyn was born about 1234 in Gwynedd, North Wales.  Helen Elen Llywelyn's father was Llywelyn Fawr ap Iowerth and her mother was Joan Plantagenet.  Her paternal grandfather was Iorwerth ap Owain Drwyndwn and her paternal grandmother is Margaret Vech Madog; her maternal grandparents were John I Plantagenet and Agatha De Ferrers. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Dafydd ap, Tegwared ap, Gwenllian verch, Margaret Drwyndon verch Llewelyn, ? verch and Angharad verch.  She was the youngest of the seven children. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Gruffudd, Gwladys verch and Helen verch.  She died after February 1295 in Kildrummy Castle, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
