Henry I was born in September 1068 in Selby, Yorkshire, England.  Henry I's father was William I De Normandy and his mother was Matilda De Flanders.  His paternal grandparents were Robert I De Normandy and Herleva De Falasia; his maternal grandparents were Baldwin V De Flanders and Adela Capet. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Richard, Constance, William II, Sibylla, Cecila, Matillda and Adela.  He was the youngest of the nine children. He had a half-sister named Gundred.  He died at the age of 68 on December 1st, 1136 in St Denis-Ie-Fermont, Normandy, France.  He was buried in Reading Abbey.
