Matilda was born in 1031 in Flanders, Belgium.  Matilda's father was Baldwin V De Flanders and her mother was Adela Capet.  Her paternal grandparents were Baldwin IV De Flanders and Ogiva De Luxembourg; her maternal grandparents were Robert II Capet and Constance De Toulouse. She had a brother named Robert.  She was the younger of the two children. She had a half-brother named Gulliaume I.  She died at the age of 52 on November 2nd, 1083 in Caen, Calvados, Normandy, France.


Matilda's first family with William I De Normandy

‌Matilda and William I were married in a religious ceremony in 1051.  They had five sons and four daughters, named Robert, Richard, Constance, William II, Henry I, Sibylla, Cecila, Matillda and Adela.

They had a daughter named Gundred.
