Adela was born in 1062 in Falaise, Normandy, France.  Adela's father was William I De Normandy and her mother was Matilda De Flanders.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert I De Normandy and Herleva De Falasia; her maternal grandparents were Baldwin V De Flanders and Adela Capet. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Richard, Constance, William II, Henry I, Sibylla, Cecila and Matillda.  She was the second youngest of the nine children. She had a half-sister named Gundred.  She died at the age of 76 on March 8th, 1138 in Marcingy-sur-Loire, France.  She was buried in Abbey Of Holy Trinity, Caen, Normandy, France.

‌Adela and Stephen were married in a religious ceremony in 1080.  They had three sons and two daughters, named William, Theobald IV, Stephen, Eleanor and Emma.
