Her paternal grandfather was Philip De Braose and her paternal grandmother is Aenor De Totnais; her maternal grandparents were Miles De Pitres and Sybil De Neufmarche. She had two brothers and three sisters, named William, John, Avelnia Agnes, Matilda and Bertha. She was the third youngest of the six children.
