John M. DeSpain

John M. was born on May 24th, 1793 in Green Co.,Kentucky.  John M.'s father was Peter DeSpain and his mother was Nancy Skaggs.  His paternal grandfather was John DeSpain and his paternal grandmother is Susan Scott; his maternal grandparents are Henry Skaggs and Mary Thompson. He had twelve brothers and four sisters, named Hiram, William Marshall, Stephen, Mark, James Simpson, Harrison, Silas, William Joseph, George Washington, Andrew Drury, Thomas, Edmund, Susanna Elizabeth, Mary, Nancy and Lucy Ann.  He was the second oldest of the seventeen children. He had a half-brother named William Perry.  He died at the age of 71 on February 12th, 1865 in Pleasant Grove,Des Moines Co.,Iowa.  He was buried in Carter Cemetery,Danville,DesMoines Co.,Iowa.

‌John M. and Lydia were married in a religious ceremony on July 15th, 1813 in Green Co.,Kentucky.  They had a son and a daughter, named William Marshall and Nancy.

‌John M. and Hester were married in a religious ceremony on July 6th, 1834 in Green Co.,Kentucky.

‌John M. and Mariah were married in a religious ceremony on February 15th, 1841 in Green Co.,Kentucky.  They had three sons and two daughters, named Milton Thomas, Silas, Newton, Mary Elizabeth and Belinda.
