William Marshall DeSpain

William Marshall was born in December 1797 in Green Co.,Kentucky.  William Marshall's father was Peter DeSpain and his mother was Nancy Skaggs.  His paternal grandfather was John DeSpain and his paternal grandmother is Susan Scott; his maternal grandparents are Henry Skaggs and Mary Thompson. He had twelve brothers and four sisters, named John M., Hiram, Stephen, Mark, James Simpson, Harrison, Silas, William Joseph, George Washington, Andrew Drury, Thomas, Edmund, Susanna Elizabeth, Mary, Nancy and Lucy Ann.  He was the fifth oldest of the seventeen children. He had a half-brother named William Perry.  He died at the age of 73 in 1870 in Taylor Co.,Kentucky.

‌William Marshall and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on May 8th, 1821 in Green Co.,Kentucky.  They had a son and a daughter, named James Logan and Nancy Ann.
