James Simpson DeSpain

James Simpson was born on October 24th, 1804 in Green Co.,Kentucky. James Simpson's father was Peter DeSpain and his mother was Nancy Skaggs. His paternal grandfather was John DeSpain and his paternal grandmother is Susan Scott; his maternal grandparents are Henry Skaggs and Mary Thompson. He had twelve brothers and four sisters, named John M., Hiram, William Marshall, Stephen, Mark, Harrison, Silas, William Joseph, George Washington, Andrew Drury, Thomas, Edmund, Susanna Elizabeth, Mary, Nancy and Lucy Ann. He was the eighth oldest of the seventeen children. He had a half-brother named William Perry. He died at the age of 35 on October 30th, 1839 in Montgomery Co.,Virginia. He was buried in Old Salem Cemetery,Montgomery Co.,Indiana.
