Silas DeSpain 
Silas was born on June 30th, 1848 in Green Co.,Kentucky. Silas' father was John M. DeSpain and his mother was Mariah Perkins. His paternal grandparents were Peter DeSpain and Nancy Skaggs. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Milton Thomas, Newton, Mary Elizabeth and Belinda. He was the second youngest of the five children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named William Marshall and Nancy. He died at the age of 87 on March 30th, 1936 in New London,Des Moines Co.,Iowa.-
