Matilda (Maud) was born in June 1156.  Matilda (Maud)'s father was Henry II Curtmantle FitzEmpress of England and her mother was Eleanor of Aquitaine.  Her paternal grandparents were Geoffrey V the Fair Plantagenet of Anjou and Matilda the Empress of England; her maternal grandparents were William X the Toulousan of Aquitaine and Eleanor Chatellerault de Rochefoucauld. She had five brothers and two sisters, named William of, Richard I Coeur de Lion of, Geoffrey II Plantagenet of, John I Plantagenet Lackland of, Henry the Young King of, Eleanor and Joan. She had six half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Morgan of, William I, Geoffrey, Peter, Hugh of, Richard, Daughter, Matilda of, Marie Capet of and Alisa Capet of.  She died at the age of 33 on June 28th, 1189.
