Mathilda of was born in 1031 in Flanders, France.  Mathilda of's father was Baldwin V the Pious de Lille of Flanders and her mother was Adela (Alix) Capet of France.  Her paternal grandparents were Baldwin IV Fair Beard Barbatus of Flanders and Ogive (Otgiva) of Luxemburg; her maternal grandparents were Robert II Capet the Pious of France and Constance of Arles and Toulouse. She had two brothers named Baldwin I (VI of Flanders) of and Robert I the Frisian of. She had a half-brother named Nicholas de.  She died at the age of 52 on November 2nd, 1083 in Caen, Calvados, Normandy, France.  She was buried in 1083 in Holy Trinity Abbey (Abbate-aux-Dames La Trinite's choir),Caen, Normandy.


Mathilda of's first family with Gherbod the Fleming of St. Omers

‌Mathilda of and Gherbod the Fleming of were married in a religious ceremony before 1047.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Gherbod the, Richard and Gundrada de.

‌Mathilda of and William I the Conqueror of were married in a religious ceremony in 1053 in Cathedral of Notre Dame d'Eu, Normandy, France.  They had four sons and six daughters, named Richard of, Robert III Curthose of, William II Rufus of, Henry I Beauclerc of, Adeliza of, Cecilia of Holy, Adela, Agatha of, Constance of and Matilda of.
