Richard I Coeur de Lion of was born on September 8th, 1157 in Beaumont Palace, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.  Richard I Coeur de Lion of's father was Henry II Curtmantle FitzEmpress of England and his mother was Eleanor of Aquitaine.  His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey V the Fair Plantagenet of Anjou and Matilda the Empress of England; his maternal grandparents were William X the Toulousan of Aquitaine and Eleanor Chatellerault de Rochefoucauld. He had four brothers and three sisters, named William of, Geoffrey II Plantagenet of, John I Plantagenet Lackland of, Henry the Young King of, Matilda (Maud), Eleanor and Joan. He had six half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Morgan of, William I, Geoffrey, Peter, Hugh of, Richard, Daughter, Matilda of, Marie Capet of and Alisa Capet of.  He died at the age of 41 on April 6th, 1199 in Chalus, Limousin, Aquitaine, France.  He was buried in 1199 in Fontevraud Abbey, Anjou, France.
