Fulk IV (Foulques) the Rude of was born in 1043 in Anjou, France.  Fulk IV (Foulques) the Rude of's father was Geoffroy V Ferreol of Gastinais and his mother was Ermengard (Blanche) d'Anjou.  His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey IV Ferreol of Gastinais and Beatrice de Macon of Burgundy; his maternal grandparents were Fulk III Nera the Black of Anjou and Hildegarde de Lorraine of Metz. He had a brother and a sister, named Geoffrey III the Bearded of and Hildegarde de Chateau-Landon.  He was the youngest of the three children. He had a half-sister named Aldegarde (Hildegard) of.  He died at the age of 63 on April 14th, 1106.
