WARNING: Something odd here: John changed his name from Lomax to Openshaw. This implies his father was Openshaw and mother Lomax and they never married. The marriage confirms this.
27 Apr 1853, John Lomax married Margaret Bradley of Tong at St Peter's Bolton.
John and Margered included "Openshaw" in 6 of their 7 children's names, (all registered as LOMAX+BRADLEY) and by 1871 they were known as John and Margaret Openshaw. For Elizabeth Ann's 1863 baptism he is named "John Openshaw Lomax"
In 1861, John Lomax (born Tonge) and Margaret (29 & 31) were at Darcey Lever.
In 1871, John and Margaret Openshaw (39 & 40) were at Radcliffe with Emily, Elizabeth Ann, Alfred and Johnh James.

Ann Greenhalgh (illegitimate) married Henry Lomax 26 July 1852. They had two sons James and William before Henry (and son William) died in 1855, aged only 22. Henry was a (train?) fireman, so it may have been an industrial accident.
Ann aged 22, remarried Thomas Nuttall at Radcliffe and in 1861, they had James Lomex with them (aged 8) and Sarah Nuttall, aged 1.

WARNING: There is also a John and Ann Greenwood of Great Bolton whjo married in 1781 and had over 10 children.
Probably brother of James of Darcy Lever (see Alice's baptism) and/or Samuel, a farmer of Radcliffe.
In 1823, Thomas, John's father, left one cottage in King Street, Great Bolton, to son John Mather.
In 1841, John was at Flash, Brieghtmet (60) a Farmer, living alone.
In 1851, John Mather (73, a retired farmer from Breightment) was living with his daughter Ellen (40) and son-in-law (shown as "Step-father") Joseph Phethean (48).
John's daughter Sarah was at Roscoe Fold, Breightmet, so John is probably related to Jeremy Mather.

Mary, Janes and Sarah (b. 1802-1805) must be John & Ann family from Breightmet (between Bolton & Bury) compared to the one from Bolton. There are two Marys and two James births. Also James and Mary baptisms only one month appart. The closest John Mather and Ann (Worsley) Marriage is in Eccles. There are baptisms for a John and Ann family in Eccles, but that I believe this is for a John Mather Ann Derbyshire Eccles marriage.

Thomas was an Iron Moulder when he married Mary.
Between 1806 and 1812 Thomas and Mary had 4 children baptised at St Peter's, Bolton. None of the childrens baptisms show fathers occuption, only abode " G.B." (i.e. Great Bolton).
In 1812, Mary, wife of Thomas died. Thomas does not appear to have remarried. Instead he may have also died, aged 25, buried 4 March 1814, less that two years after his wife. Perhaps it was suicide! However, if this is him aged 25, he was only about 16 when he married, so this death is probably another.

James was the son or Richard and Mary Lomax of Breightmet
15 Apr 1827, James Lomax (about 24) married an older Betty Mather (aged about 30).
In 1841, James and Betty (38 & 44) were at Ashes, Breightmet with sons Richard (13), John (11), Henry (9) and James (2mo). Also at Ashes, is John and Sarah Lomax (53 & 50), not James's parents.
In 1851, James and Betty (47 & 53) were at Ashes, Breightmet with sons John (21), Henry (18) and Thomas (14). A neighbour, also at Ashes, is John and Sarah Lomax (63 & 59), probably James's parents.
In 1861, there are 5 households at the Ashes. James and Betty (58 & 44) are still at "The Ashes" next to Ashes Farm with their son Thomas (22). Jeremy Mather and his wife Alice (both 49) were head of Ashes Farm. Peter and Betty Mather were also there. Was this Betty's younger brother?

There is no baptism for John, but he is with his parents James and Betty at Breightmet in 1841 (11) and 1851 (aged 21).
It is unlikely he is the illegitimate John Lomas of same age who married Margaret Bradley in 1853.
John may have died in 1860, aged 30. There is a Lanc-BMD record, but no GRO death record.
