John Mather 
John was born in 1752. He died at the age of 70 in January 1822 in Bolton. He was buried on January 9th, 1822 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1 1 Death Notes
May have died in 1822 or 1825, where there are burials recorded with no father (so adult), but sadly no wife named on the transcript. Need to check the original images (were not available).
There are probate records for 5 Apr 1821 (Plumber & Glazier), 14 Feb 1822 (a Shopkeeper) and 24 Jan 1826 (a Weaver).
The 1822 index record reads: Mather John - Charles Mather (executor) of Bolton le Moors. This is significant, as John is Charle's father, Charles Mather was also witness to James's marriage. Also, we know James's father John was a shopkeeper in 1845, so he probably took over his father business.

General Notes
John was a weaver when he married Ann in 1781.
Between 1784 and 1792, there is a big gap in the birth (baptisms) for John and Ann. At the same time there are births registered for two daughters of John and Nancy of G.B. (but no marriage for a John and Nancy). It is therefore likely Nancy was a pet name for Ann which was common practice in the 19th cent.
Oct 1820, John's wife Nancy died, and John followed 2 years later.
Probate records show John was a shopkeeper when he died in 1822.

Also witness to Joseph's marriage. He is very likely a younger surviving brother of John.
Charles Mather was a representative of John.
