George's father was Joseph Stocks and his mother was Elizabeth Perkin. His paternal grandparents were David Stocks and Sarah Brook; his maternal grandparents were George Parkin and Susana (Hanah) Gleadhill . He had a brother and two sisters, and also four siblings of unknown gender, named Samuel, Sally, Susannah, <child>, <child>, <child> and <child>. He was the third oldest of the eight children. He had two half-sisters named Martha and Hanah. He died at the age of 41 in February 1807 in Huddersfield. His burial was on February 13th, 1807 at St. Peter (Huddersfield).²
