Susannah Stocks

Susannah was born in 1790 in Berry Brow and her christening took place on May 24th, 1790 in Almondbury.¹²

Susannah's father was George Stocks and her mother was Mary Blackburn. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Stocks and Elizabeth Perkin; her maternal grandparents were Michael Blackburn and Hannah Scover. She had three brothers and five sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Benjamin, Michael, Job, Betty, Esther, Esther, Ruth, Ruth and <child>. She was the third oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 35 in December 1825 in Taylor Hill. Her burial was on December 6th, 1825 in Almondbury.³

General Notes
- Susannah's children were born at Newsome, between Lockwood and Berry Brow. Susannah was only 27 when her first husband died at Newsome in 1817. She probably remarried John Hirst in 1818. Her children would have been brought up by John.
  
  In 1825, Susannah Hirst of Taylor Hill died, aged 36.
  
  Son George left home to become a School Master at Newsome. He later lived with his cousin.
  
  Daughter Rebecca married in 1835.
