Martha was born in May 1758 at DeadManStone and her baptism took place on May 15th, 1758 in Almondbury.1  Martha's father was Thomas Shaw and her mother was Elizabeth Perkin.  Her maternal grandparents were George Parkin and Susana (Hanah) Gleadhill . She had a sister named Hanah.  She was the older of the two children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, and also four half-siblings of unknown gender, named George, Samuel, Sally, Susannah, <child>, <child>, <child> and <child>.
