Richard Mather

Richard was born in 1795 in Deane and his baptism took place on July 5th, 1795 at St. Mary (Deane).¹²

Richard's father was John Mather and his mother was Betty Edge. He had five brothers and six sisters, named John, James, Thomas, Wright, William, Elizabeth, Alice, Jane, Margaret, Mary and Charlotte. He was the eighth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 80 in March 1875 in Bolton. His burial was in March 1875 at Tonge-with-Haulgh Cemetery.³⁴

- Richard is probably the son of John and Betty Mather from Deane (since he lived in Bolton West and married Betty from Anderton).
  
  In 1841, Richard Mather (45) a weaver, was living in Bengall Square, Bolton. Wife Betty was 10y older, with Mary (22), Jane (18), and Wright (15).
  
  In 1851, Richard and Betty (55 & 33) were at 35 Bengall Square. Betty was from Anderton. Elizabeth Lee (Granddaughter) was with them (and her parents John and Mary Lee at 28 Bengall Square).
  
  Richard (76) was logding with his daughter Jane Barker in 1871.
