Margaret was born in 1793 in Deane and her baptism took place on April 27th, 1793 at St. Mary (Deane).1  Margaret's father was John Mather and her mother was Betty Edge. She had six brothers and five sisters, named John, James, Thomas, Richard, Wright, William, Elizabeth, Alice, Jane, Mary and Charlotte.  She was the seventh oldest of the twelve children.
