Richard Mather

Richard was born in October 1819 in Blackrod and his baptism took place on November 28th, 1819 at St. Katherine (B'rod).¹

Richard's father was Nathan Mather and his mother was Alice Makinson. His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Entwistle. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named John, Nathan, Ann, Mary, Alice, Elizabeth, Ellen, Agnes and Sarah. He was the sixth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 78 on October 31st, 1897 in Blackrod. His burial was on November 3rd, 1897 at St. Katherine (B'rod).²

General Notes
- Farmer, son of Nathian, also a farmer (when he married Jane).
  He died aged 78, but 85 on headstone.
  
  1843-57 the family lived as Aspull, Blackrod (where all the childrens births registered), although in 1850, Ann's birth was registered at Adlington, Preston.
  
  In 1845 Richard was witness to his cousin Hannah's marriage (he is the only Richard on the 1851 census from Blackrod).
  
  In 1859, Richard was also an Inkeeper (victular) when his father Nathan died and in 1861. In 1861 he was at the "Three Crowns" at Blackrod, a victular and farmer of 22 acres.
