Ann, known as Hannah, was born in 1821 in Blackrod and her baptism took place on September 25th, 1821 at St. Katherine (B'rod).1  Hannah's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Hannah (Ann) Holt.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Entwistle. She had three brothers and a sister, named John, Henry, Thomas and Alice.  She was the youngest of the five children.  She died at the age of 43 in June 1864 in Aspull.  She was buried on June 27th, 1864 at St. Katherine (B'rod).2 3

‌Hannah and William were married in a religious ceremony on September 8th, 1839 at St. Peter's (Bolton).4   They had four sons named Thomas, John, George and William.  There are no more children.
