Nancy was born in 1773 in Walmsley and her baptism took place on July 16th, 1773 at Walmsley Presbyterian conducted by minister John Aspinal.1 2  Nancy's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Ann Howarth.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ellen Blinstone; her maternal grandparents were Edmund Howarth and Anne. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Isaac, James, Solomon, Richard, Susanna, Susan, Ann and Alice.  She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 80 in May 1853 in Little Bolton.3

‌Nancy and John were married in a religious ceremony on January 6th, 1802 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by minister John Lutener (Assistant Minister) and witnessed by William & James Orrell.4   They had a biological son and a biological daughter, named Charles and Mary.  They also had an adopted son and an adopted daughter, named James and Margaret.  There are possibly more children.
