Ann was born in 1774 in Turton and her baptism took place on October 15th, 1775 at Walmsley Presbyterian conducted by minister John Aspinal.1  Ann's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Ann Howarth.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ellen Blinstone; her maternal grandparents were Edmund Howarth and Anne. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Isaac, James, Solomon, Richard, Susanna, Susan, Nancy and Alice.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 55 in March 1829 in Harwood.  She was buried on March 29th, 1829 at St. Peter's (Bolton).2

‌Ann and Richard were married in a religious ceremony on January 13th, 1808 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by minister John Wilson and witnessed by William Orrell and James Orrell.3   They had a son named Robert.
