Alice Mather

Alice was born in 1779 in Turton and her baptism took place on May 1st, 1779 at Walmsley Presbyterian conducted by minister John Aspinal.¹

Alice's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Ann Howarth. Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ellen Blinstone; her maternal grandparents were Edmund Howarth and Anne. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Isaac, James, Solomon, Richard, Susanna, Susan, Nancy and Ann. She was the youngest of the nine children.

Death Notes
- The Alice Walmsley (of correct age) buried at Holme appears to be the wife of Joseph Walmsley (1773-1834) who is also buried there. Sarah Walmsley (1805-1825) from the Old Pottery is also buried there.

- Alice probably married John Walmsley in 1805. It cant be Samuel and Alice Mather in 1810 as that would be her nephew. It cant be Alice and Hampson Lomax in 1813 as that Alice was a widow.
