Hannah was born in January 1838 in Halliwell and her baptism took place on March 11th, 1838 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1 2  Hannah's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Elizabeth Roper.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles. She had two brothers and four sisters, named John, William, Martha, Alice, Mary and Ellen. She had an adopted brother and an adopted sister, named Robert and Ann. She had three half-sisters named Elizabeth, Elizabeth and Sarah.  She died at the age of 2 in January 1840 in Sharples.  She was buried on January 19th, 1842 at St. Peter's (Bolton).3
