Alice's father was Richard Mather and her mother was Elizabeth Roper. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles. She had two brothers and four sisters, named John, William, Hannah, Martha, Mary and Ellen. She had an adopted brother and an adopted sister, named Robert and Ann. She had three half-sisters named Elizabeth, Elizabeth and Sarah. She died at the age of 1 on August 8th, 1844 in Sharples. Her burial was on August 8th, 1844 at St. Peter's (Bolton).²¹
