Robert Roper (Mather)

Robert was born in 1835 in Sharples and his baptism took place on April 24th, 1836.¹²

He had two brothers and six sisters, named John, William, Ann, Hannah, Martha, Alice, Mary and Ellen. He was adopted by Richard Mather & Elizabeth Roper. He had three half-sisters named Elizabeth, Elizabeth and Sarah. Robert is no longer alive.

General Notes
- In 1841, Ann (10) and Robert (7) were children of Richard and Elizabeth, living with them at Club Houses, Sharples. They may not have been Richard's although he did marry a much older Elizabeth.
  
  In 1851, Robert (17) was described as a stepson of Richard and Jane at Sharples.
  
  NOTE: Another Robert "Matther" (same age and son of Richard) of Halliwell, born Withnell, married Sarah Smith, witness Miles Matther. This Robert was on the 1841 census with parents Robert and Ann.
