Thomas was born in June 1780 in Harthill and his baptism took place on June 4th, 1780 at St. Boniface (Bunbury).1 2  Thomas' father was William Brereton and his mother was Mary Ledsham.  His paternal grandparents were Sandford Brereton and Elizabeth Dale; his maternal grandparents were Richard Ledsham and Ann Lucas. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Richard, William, George, John, James, Samuel, Abraham and Mary.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 79 in September 1859 in Stalybridge.  He was buried on September 8th, 1859 in Stalybridge.3 3

‌Thomas and Ann were married in a religious ceremony on December 29th, 1805 in Harthill.1  They had five sons and five daughters, named Thomas, George, Abraham, Richard, Joshua, Sarah, Ann, Mary, Hannah and Jane.  There are no more children.
